Hand-Painted Oil Painting
Medium & Tools: Created using oil paints, brushes, canvas, palette knives, and other traditional painting tools.
Process: Involves physically mixing pigments, applying layers of paint, and waiting for them to dry. The texture, brushstrokes, and imperfections are all physical and unique to each artwork.
Physicality: Exists as a tangible, one-of-a-kind object. Lighting, viewing angle, and the actual surface texture affect how it’s perceived.
Time & Skill: Often takes longer due to drying times and the manual nature of the process. Skills rely heavily on the artist’s hand control and mastery of traditional techniques.
Digital Art
Medium & Tools: Created using digital devices such as tablets, styluses, and software (e.g., Photoshop, Procreate).
Process: Artists work with virtual brushes, layers, and digital color palettes. Edits can be made instantly, and there’s no drying time.
Reproducibility: Can be reproduced infinitely in identical quality. The “original” often exists as a digital file rather than a physical object.
Flexibility: Allows for undoing mistakes, experimenting with different styles, and integrating elements like photography or 3D rendering.
